Lesley Pymm reports: What a difference to last year. I have just looked at the photos from 2010, and I was wearing so many clothes as it was so cold. This year it was vest and shorts as the weather was warm and there was no ice or fear of it.
This is a fairly big event (478 finishers) and the start was pretty slow. Although the organiser kept asking the slower runners to go nearer the back, they obviously took no notice whatsoever, as I had problems getting past people for the first mile or so. After that the road widened and we had worked through into some sort of order.
Dean Parker was the only other person from BvH that I saw, and I don’t think he had the same problem as he would have started near the front and he came in 10th. Well done Dean. I took a little longer, but had time to enjoy the views, look at the llamas near the drink station and generally enjoy the event.
This is a good post Christmas event that always fills up. The T shirts were good – technical and hi-viz, so good for training. You can see some behind me in the photo at the finish.
Congratulations to Dean on finishing well up in the field, and in a `respectable` post-Christmas time —– And congratulations Lesley on a new AC Club record. Both of you have a sound foundation for a successful and fulfilling 2012.
