Cross country league race 2, Wolverhampton.

A slightly reduced team made the trip to Wolverhampton, but still a good number with 10 ladies starting and finishing.  As a spectator I can’t really comment that much on the course other than it looked complicated, so anyone wanting to write a race report is more than welcome. Luckily, Nicola Sykes in her first league race for Bournville had sussed it out as she lead the first small lap, fantastic to see a teal vest up with the young university runners. Linda came in next for the team, shortly followed by Laura Leslie and not far behind Sarah Rock. These girls had a battle throughout the race, however not with each other, on a steep narrow embankment another runner pushed Sarah trying to overtake. In true team spirit Laura tapped her on the shoulder and politely pointed out that it was not an appropriate place to try and overtake. Laura Gale put in a super run, fuelled by Vodka Jelly and a need to get home to organise a party. A great team result put us in 12th position out of 34 with very few points between us and the surrounding teams (we only beat BRAT’s by 7 points so no getting complacent). The master’s team with counters, Sarah Rock, Laura Gale and Suz West came 9th out of 26.

A fantastic effort from everyone that ran, thank-you. Next League race Droitwich on the 11th of January.
