Laura Leslie reports: Well this was my first road run in several months due to injury and I was quite excited. So whilst many Harriers were polishing their spikes ready for the Warwickshire county champs later in the day, we were on our way to Cannon Hill Park for a long awaited 5K.
It was not a great start to get there and find all the toilets shut due to vandalism (luckily there are plenty of bushes in the park!) but that didn’t stop our enthusiasm. It was great to see other Harriers there including Kelly and Mark S, Lesley P, Dave H, Martin F and a few others, so well done to all!
I had a good run and was really pleased to be pain free. It was great to see Paul (my husband) in his second ever 5K, having a battle at the end, and a “chariots of fire” sprint finish! I was not so pleased to see that he was only 1 minute behind me! If I’d known he was going to be any good I might not have encouraged him to join!!
Great to see the other BvHers having fantastic runs on a rather soggy course. Fab to see Kelly S back to running too after a break. Superb marshalling as well and great support round the course (thanks Lesley B!).
Again, I would really recommend these runs, they are free, friendly and great as a test of fitness if you’ve been training well or are coming back from a break. There were over a 100 runners this week and a nice atmosphere.

Well done everbody great to BVh members supporting this event. Especially Paul ( Laura,s Husband) I can remember Paul starting running with the beginners group.
Great to see you back running/racing again Laura.I do hope that you get a sustained time injury free, and that you will have a fulfilling and successful 2011.All any of us can do is to take best advice and try to act on it.
Good to see such a good turnout from BvH at the Cannon Hill Park Run.

PS.I`m sure that with more time and effort ,and the right breakfast cereal, that Paul (your husband) will go even faster!
What Laura very modestly has not said is that she was first woman. Well done to all!
