Laura Gale reports: For those of you who are addicted to the 5k weekly wake-up call on a Saturday morning, another fairly local parkrun started up on Saturday. A friend of mine was helping to set it up, so I said i’d go along to boost numbers.
The route is around Arrow Valley Country Park in Redditch. A very pretty course twice around a duck filled lake on pathways. Other local club runners were warming up, and I saw a few familiar faces from Cannon Hill parkrun.
There were 120 runners in the end, and proudly wearing my Bournville vest I amazingly crossed the finish line as 1st lady in 22.52. Free coffee and croissants in the visitors centre was a great reward. Well organised, scenic and very friendly.
Congratulations Laura on being the first lady home —- And proudly wearing your BvH vest. Not such an `arrowing` experience after all!

Well done Laura – I had just noticed that you were first woman and was going to put something on the website, then I saw that you had sent a report in. It’s a shame that they are using the circuit of the lake when there are such a lot of choices at Arrow Valley. I intend to get over there and try it out soon.
How lovely- 1st lady in the 1st race( AND free coffee and croissants) 🙂 Well done!
