Barrie Roberts reports: On what was a very busy weekend for me, both professionally and domestically, I travelled to Wales on Saturday 2nd June and Monday 4th June 2012 to participate in the Welsh Athletics Diamond Jubilee Track & Field Championships at Cardiff International Sports Stadium.
I ran in the 800m and 1500m. Results were as follows:-
800m
5 (1) 2:56.18 Gold Medal(M65)
1500M
9 (1) 6:02.49 Gold Medal(M65)
My preparations were far from perfect as I was recovering from a chest infection. Both races were mixed aged entry and that has its own particular challenge on the day. I would hope to go a little faster in the BMAF Championships later in the year when there will be more athletes in my own age category participating in any given race (my times, whilst modest, compare well with those at the Midland Masters Championships which took place the following weekend).
As always I was proud to be running in my BvH vest and was appreciative of the support from my wife Katie and fellow competitors from WMAA.
Great result Barrie -well done!
Two gold medals with less than perfect prep.- awesome! Well done Barrie 🙂
I mean Barrie!
Well done Barry
