Lesley Pymm reports: Another lovely spring run, this time in woodland near Leominster. I had an e-mail from the organiser the evening before saying that he hoped the rain on Friday & Saturday night would not affect the course too much as it had been in very good condition. Well, of course it did affect it and the course was the muddiest that anyone could remember. It was great!
This is one of those events where you have to go about 10 minutes uphill to get to the start. A great warm up! It starts fairly easily on a forestry track before heading off uphill in woodland. Our first glimpse of bluebells (last year the organisers had to apologise that the bluebells were late). It was then fairly undulating until we got to ‘the hill’ – one long climb. It just seemed to go on and on. When we got to the top, eventually, we ran on a bit and then out onto a bit of forestry track and then the finale – the drop through the bluebell wood. This was a lot more slippery than I have ever known it before and I know I lost time on it, but it was fantastic. Then it is out of the woods and the final run in on a downhill track. Brilliant.
Coffee and doughnuts for all – and big bags of posh crisps. We also got a T-shirt. All this for £8.
Some people could be forgiven for suggesting Lesley that you might be on the `slippery slope!`
