Former Olympic Medallist and Chancellor of University of Sunderland, Steve Cram MBE is visiting Aston University to present “Psychology of Success”.
Thursday 22 March 2012
About the event:
Steve is regarded as one of the finest middle distance runners of all time. He was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1983, and in 1986 he was awarded an MBE. Currently, he is the BBC’s chief athletics commentator, a Guardian sports writer and is the Chairman of the English Institute for Sport.
He set world records in the 1500 metres, 2000 metres and the mile; he was the first man to run 1500 metres in under three minutes and 30 seconds; he won the 1500 metres gold medal at the 1983 World Championships and also the 1500 metres silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games.
As such, he truly understands the psychology of success and what it takes to create a determined mind-set. Steve will discuss whether you are born a winner or if you can achieve your dreams through showing a tremendous amount of determination and drive and channelling it in the right direction.
The event is supported by Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank for which Steve is an ambassador. Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank work closely with Aston by partnering on the Aston University Professional Mentoring Scheme, a scheme that mentors second year students before their placement year.
