Chris Harlan-Marks reports: Some fantastic times from BvH runners and top ten places for both Mark Hobbs and Linda Howell.
We really enjoyed this race through the same parks and streets where we first started running when we lived in Liverpool. Support from the crowds was patchy compared to the Birmingham Half, but the atmosphere was friendly and the route was pretty and largely flat throughout. Caroline set a pace that I just couldn’t manage, but I just tried to keep her in sight. I was looking forward to the last 3.5 miles of the course, because the riverside walk promised to be flat, scenic and cool. Unfortunately, we were all greeted with a face-full of wind that didn’t let up for the remainder of the race! That was a bit of a nasty surprise, but was well worth it in the end when we saw our times.
Linda found us at the finish, despite the crowd of 5,500+ runners, as she’d heard the announcer reading out Caroline’s name and making comments about runners from ‘chocolate country’ which we all found amusing. All in all, a very enjoyable race, and a very successful one for all of the BvHers who ran it.
