The safety and wellbeing of Club Members and their family and friends is one of our main priorities; the Committee continues to monitor the fluid situation regarding the Coronavirus and consider whether and how we can play a part in the measures being taken to protect our members and the wider community.
There are currently no plans to cancel club nights on Mondays and Thursdays, nor do we plan to cancel or postpone the AGM, however, we will remain alert to any changes in advice from the Government, NHS and England Athletics and will notify club members via the website and Facebook in the event of any changes. Please check the website regularly for updates and before setting off for any club training run or other events. Note that whilst we as a club will try to make club members aware of updates regarding Road Relays and Teal Targets that we become aware of, we cannot guarantee to update on other races and events so please keep an eye on the websites or social media for events that you are taking part in.
We would like to remind you all of the advice from Public Health England, in particular, if you have breathing difficulties, or if you have a high temperature or cough please stay at home; do not attend club training nights or the AGM. This advice is to protect other people in our community, especially those who have underlying health conditions. Even if you personally feel well enough to run, in spite of the risks associated with running with a respiratory condition, the advice to stay at home is there to protect others and you are strongly encouraged to follow it.
Please pay particular attention to the general cold and flu precautions to help prevent people from catching and spreading COVID-19, including hand hygiene prior to and after your run.
As well as the Government and NHS 111 websites, England Athletics will be regularly updating the following page with specific information for athletes, supporters, officials, event organisers and clubs: https://www.englandathletics.org/athletics-and-running/news/coronavirus-statement/
These are uncertain times and there may be those amongst us who need our support; so please take the time to connect with other members of the community where you can in person or virtually, especially anyone who is self-isolating and missing the regular routine of running with others.
