BVH TOUR 2013 – 24th – 28th June 2013
This year will see the final running of the Tour of Bournville – a week long event where you run 5 consecutive nights covering a 5k road, 5mile canal, 7 mile hill, 4 mile XC and 10k multi terrain.
However this year there is a difference, entry will also be possible for individual nights: Monday 10k, Thursday 4mile XC and Fridays 5k where extra prizes are up for grabs!
For those running the full tour, your times for the 5 nights are added up at the end of the week and those with the quickest overall time win. However don’t be put off by the quicker runners, we award age category prizes too.
This week is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself; not only physically but mentally too. It is about determination and enthusiasm, and above all, fellow BVH members coming together to support and encourage as we all challenge ourselves. It is a great way to talk to various members who you don’t usually get the chance to, and we celebrate your achievements on the Friday evening with food and the prize giving.
I’d just like to add my thanks to all involved in the organisation and marshalling of this fantastic event. The support of everyone, including all the other runners, shouting encouragement as I ran to the finish was so thrilling – and it will be the memories of those moments (rather than of the week spent hobbling around on tired legs) which I will carry away with me…
I’m very sorry to hear that the event may not continue in future years (but very relieved to have taken up running in time to have done it) but if there is anything I could do to help with whatever might replace it please let me know.
Very best wishes to you all, what a great bunch of people.
Allan
What a week!!! Well done everyone!! Some really hard races in some rather warm conditions……. Congratulations! …….feeling very proud of myself…….and everyone. Xx thank you all so much for your encouragement and support, even though I started ahead and still came in towards the last, I have been made to feel really proud. Thank you to everyone, who even though they were running at full pelt themselves, still made the effort to speak words of encouragement……thank you all xx
Hi Oliver,
The races all start at 7.45pm except for the canal race which starts at 7.30pm. You do need to be there each night at 7.30pm though to register. If you click on the link above you will find all the useful details.
I can highly recommend the tour. I took part the first two years after joining the club – it was a great way to meet people, get fit, run somewhere different etc. etc. A really good atmosphere every night.
Out of interest, what time do each of the races start? Are they all after 7? Would love to do the Tour but don’t want to commit to something I won’t be able to do.
Looking forward to it 🙂
