MCAA ROAD RELAYS CANCELLED… so please consider supporting the JW Ultra!

Saturday’s Midland Counties Road Relays in Sutton Park have now been cancelled, due to an outbreak of e.coli. MCAA will keep our relay captains advised as to the situation regarding qualification for Nationals, should those go ahead.

Mark Lynock has suggested that anyone left without anything fun to do on Saturday as a result might consider coming along to support our runners at the JW Ultra (info: here), as there are a number of BvHers competing in this race as usual. For those who don’t know, the JW Ultra is organised by members of BvH and is run each year in memory of John Ward, who was a founding member of the club.

  1. The JW Ultra, whether as a participant or helper/supporter, is an excellent and enjoyable way of spending a Saturday.John Ward,in whose memory this annual event is held, was not only a founder member of Bournville Harriers but was also Chairman of our Club.Yes,he was passionate about running and invariably encouraged those around him. eg.I well remember the regular hill rep sessions at Manor Farm Park(off the Bristol Road). Both John and Sue were always very encouraging to those who were there. And many of us became better runners/athletes as a consequence of the hard work put in at the time.
