2-3pm Sunday October 27th – “Hula Hoop fun!”
Hula Hoop session for BvH members by Julia Higgins (HoopHoopHoop) – Sunday 27th October, 2-3pm – SIGN UP BELOW:
What? Come and try something different with your running club buddies and have some fun! This taster session will introduce you to several aspects of hula hooping including fitness, dance and of course fun! More information can be found here: http://www.hoophoophoop.com/
Where? The class will take place at the MAC in the Randle room
When? The class will run from 2-3pm though it’s good to turn up a few minutes in advance to make sure you don’t miss the start.
Cost? For this class we will be charging a nominal fee of £2 per person. The session is still subsidised but this will allow us to cover the additional costs of a professional teacher.
What to wear/bring? Participants should wear appropriate clothes – if it’s cold then tight well-fitting layers should be worn rather than bulky sweatshirts or jackets, in a non-shiny fabric – long socks or legwarmers rolled down over ankles are also good protection against falling hoops! A bottle of water is also a good idea.
Julia has hooped at numerous festivals, live music, club, party and cabaret events, and in Ayia Napa. She is experienced in teaching workshops and regular classes to a diverse variety of people including children, adults, hen parties, corporate teams, and people with specific mental health and physical access requirements. Last year she enjoyed learning new stuff and hanging out with hoopers at London HoopFest, Manchester Hoop Congress, Play Festival and SWhoop. She now organises Birmingham Hoop Dance and Circus Fest. Julia teaches Zumba, Pilates, violin, flute and guitar, plays with a string trio, and bakes fabulous cakes.
I recently attended one of Julia’s hula-hoop sessions – they really are good fun. If you like a fitness challenge then this is for you. We could always introduce a bit of competition – guys versus girls? There is also the bar at the MAC for the post hula discussions!
