Barrie Roberts reports: I drove down first thing on Saturday Morning to participate in the Welsh Masters Track Championships at Newport Stadium.
I had entered the 400m,800m and 1500m.However,on advice from my masseur,Phil Hinch(UofB),I just ran two events out of the three.(Phil had threatened to double his SM fees if I ran in all three events). Due,mainly to work commitments,my preparation had been minimal on this particular occasion, and coupled with the strong and strengthening wind which greeted me on arrival at Newport, entering two events proved to be more than enough.
The damp and blustery conditions meant that it was never going to be a day for pbs .I was satisfied but not over elated withy my endeavours, but at least I have some markers down for my on-going planning in the season ahead, which may stretch well into the autumn. My performances were as follows:-
3:01.45 (Silver Medal)
06:03.61 (Silver Medal)
Results to follow.
