We hope you enjoyed the challenge of #TheNotHandicap, here are the results!
In the Solo category, congratulations to joint winners Kerry and Stewart Crowton for both hitting their targets within the second! In third place was the Socially Sole Strider Chris Hamlett, with a very respectable 5 seconds difference. Had Federico Gonzalez submitted a prediction, he may have avoided the wooden spoon!
Meanwhile in the Duos, team #NotTheBestFancyDressThisYear aka Suz West and Alan West, add this virtual wooden spoon to the two they obtained in the previous two years’ Yacht Handicaps. At the other end of the table, we have team Lorna Al Sara in third place, which is of course Lorna Al-Ani and Sara Hewison, with a differential of just 17 seconds. In second place was Cheers Big Ears, a mere 3 seconds out, despite Charlie Hurd and Dave Powner both being over a minute out, but in different directions. Narrowly pipping them to the virtual post was The “Not The Tractor 10k” Team, with well judged performances from Pete Hickman and Jude Glynn resulting in just 2 seconds difference.
Propping up the Trios table were the Zoomers Rebecca Jones, Jaeda Goodman, and Fiona Barker, all living up to their name by being somewhat speedier than their predictions.
In third place were the Broken Outlaws Simon Newman, Richard Rollins, and John McKeon, below Easier Said Than Run comprising Grant Newman, Jonathon Bellman and Stewart Bond in second, with under a minute’s difference. The winning Trio were Kristy Mabbett, Ian Forman, and Jon Dunn of KRIANJO, an impressive 19 seconds from their target.
Extra kudos to our fastest runners Maeve Kenny in 20:07, and Paul Coughlan with a hugely impressive 16:31!
It would not be a Yacht Handicap without some appreciation of the wonderful team names! The shortlist was as follows:
SociAL ALI, Distant DOZZA
Ellis in Wonderland
Your pace or mine
Will rum for wine
lastminute dot com
Easier Said than Run
And the winner of the best Team Name, voted for on the Facebook group was ‘SociAL ALI, Distant DOZZA’ well done Ali Price and Steve Doswell.
Congratulations to all who took part in this unusual challenge, and big up to our winners! Check out the great photos and varied and creative ways that the teams took on the challenge on our Instagram, Strava, Twitter and the Facebook group.
