The Bulmers Bash – 22nd May

Nicola Morris Reports: Orchards full of blossom trees, the beautiful smell of blossom, a lovely sunny Sunday morning…..day dream over…..a 6.5 mile race to run!

There was a small crowd of Bournville Harriers, in fact a small crowd full stop, 67 runners in total lined up in the beautiful setting of the Bulmers orchards to run 6.5 miles.

The start gun went and we were off. From the beginning it was an undulating course winding around the orchards. There was a lot of uphill and probably a similar amount of downhill but I don’t remember this quite so much!   The terrain was mainly grass and uneven so hard going, not helped by the warm temperatures.

My main memories of the race consist of:

Steve Doswell racing past me down a hill on more than one occasion.

A long uphill about a mile and a half before the end which felt like running up a down escalator……I haven’t actually done this!

Pete winning his age category prize.

Getting to the finish line and a bottle of Bulmers Cider and a Bulmers Bash bottle opener.

A lovely, friendly race which I would definitely recommend

  1. Thanks for writing this one up, Nicola. Cracking event. I left my energy out under the apple blossom – not sure if that counts as being under the influence of cider!
