Self Transcendence Race Series

Barrie Roberts Reports: Last Monday Evening I travelled from Swanwick (north of Derby),where I was attending a Conference, to compete in the final event of the Self Transcendence Race Series organised by Sri Chinmoy A.C.

I completed the 4 X 1MMT laps in just under 33 minutes and won the M70 Age Category for the Race Series (9 May- 3 mile,23 May- 2 mile,30 May- 3 mile and 13 June- 4mile). As a consequence I now have a small trophy to display in my trophy cabinet.

My 3 hour+ journey to Oxford, very slow and congested, resulted in me arriving late and I missed the start of the 4 mile Race however the timekeepers allowed me to start exactly on 8 minutes. I didn`t have time for the usual `warm-up`,but was grateful and relieved that they let me compete.

The Oxford Peace Mile was inaugurated on 29th May,1987 by the Club`s founder, Sri Chinmoy. The Course is a 1 mile loop around the edge of the Park. Mostly the surface is grass however a short section is paved, therefore spikes are not suitable.
