Ryton 5 – Thursday 2 July, 2015

Lesley Pymm reports:  This was the first time I had done this event.  It was enter on the night only, which was just as well as I had been recovering from the bad knee still and did not want to commit to too much.  I decided to run, but not to race!  It rained most of the day and on the journey over to Ryton.  I was not sure that I was going to make it as Birmingham was gridlocked.  I got there in time, though and the registration was very efficient.  Good time to have a bit of a  warm up.

For something that is one of the Warwickshire Road Race League races, I was surprised to see that it was really a trail run.  The rain stopped and the sun came out, it was really warm.  I had been counting on the rain!

The area was really lovely.  The cafe was open, although I did not get the chance to use it.  It was good for supporters though.  The route was one long lap around the pool, one shorter one which did not go round the pool and a half lap.

I was still doing my first lap when I was lapped by the faster runners.  There was room for them to pass though and it was fine.  I saw a friend ahead who I usually race with, but I decided to just stay back and let her get on with it today.

I enjoyed the run, although my time was not great.  It is good to be getting out there again.
