Lynne Gossage Funeral

It is with great sadness that we inform you that long-time member and former BvH Club Secretary Lynne Gossage passed away yesterday, 27 May 2013. We will remember Lynne for her warm, welcoming nature and her passion for running and for the club. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this sad time.

EDIT: Lynne’s Funeral will take place at 12 noon, Friday 14th June at Lodge Hill Crematorium in Weoley Castle with a reception to follow from 1pm at Rowheath Pavilion. Lynne’s family have asked that donations be made to either MacMillan Nurses or St Mary’s Hospice in lieu of flowers.

  6. So sad that this should happen to someone with such a zest for life. It was Lynne talking about how she started running that inspired me to think that I could run too after years of watching other people run. She was always encouraging and helped us step up from the beginners course to the club runs. We miss you very much and send our sympathies to her family.

  7. Lynne showed such determination towards her running that she could achieve anything she put her mind to, a real inspiration.
We shared great times with her both in running and socially, we remember Lynne and Mike taking no prisoners when we had beer and skittles evenings! There were also lots of smiles and laughs shared over a half of Guiness or 2 on club nights.
We are thinking of Lynne’s family and friends both now and in the coming weeks.

  15. I am absolutely shocked to hear this sad news. Lynne was always there to help me when I first started running at the club, and was an absolute treasure in helping me when I took over from her as Club Secretary. She will be sorely missed and my thoughts are with her friends and family.

  16. i heard that when Lynn joined she asked if it was ok for “old ladies” to join. As the policy of BvH is and always has been that everyone runs, she was welcomed.
She has been poorly with one thing and another for quite a while now so some of you may not realise that Lynn used to do the sat x country training and she ran for the club at x country and in the road relays. she wooped my ass a few times when i first started when i underestimated her because she was older than me, which of course she loved 🙂
she was a great club member as a runner and on the committee and a lovely lady.
