Lesley Pymm reports on this year’s Gate Gallop: Oh my goodness, the weather certainly improved today, didn’t it! It was about 27 degrees as we all ran around the off-road course starting from Amington near Tamworth this morning.
I was really pleased when I saw and heard the end. There were a few people who needed assistance as they found the temperature too much. This is a really good event. There are children’s races first, then a 4k fun run and then the main 10k starts.
There is a commando style warm up (although most of us were huddled under the trees trying to make the most of the shade at that point!) and then we were off. For those left behind there are bouncy castle, various stalls and cakes and BBQ.
Good news is that there was plenty left when the runners got back. The marshals are really great, so encouraging and the course is not too hard. There are a few stiles to clamber over, but generally it is OK. The views are good and there were two drink stations. There was no women’s team to complete this year – how about getting a BvH team out for next year?
Thankyou for your Report Lesley.Sounds like good practice for getting through `The Pearly Gates`! You certainly needed the drink stations on such a hot day.
