  1. I agree Lesley.
The party had a great atmosphere which was due to the live band and the audience participation. The nature of the dance encouraged everyone to mix, not just with those you normally run with.

  2. Hi Lesley,
I note what you are saying. Noise level can be an issue at a function if people want to talk to those around them.I have been to Discos,at the Pavilion, where the noise level has been `acceptable` enabling participants to talk and dance,or just prop up the Bar! Noise levels can be negotiated.

Organizing Social Events is time consuming and hard work, but hopefully fulfilling and enjoyable for the most part .I enjoy BvH events/happenings,in general. It is good to meet up from time to time with ones fellow runners, and have a chat. After all `we` belong to a very special fraternity.

  3. I admit that we didn’t go to the party – but we are certainly more likely to go when it is a ceilidh than a disco. We have been previously when it has been a disco and have left when the dancing started as the ceiling in that room is too low for a disco and the music is far too loud. It was also playing during the meal and it was impossible to have a conversation with anyone. I have heard people at the xc yesterday commenting that it was really good as it meant that they had come into contact with members who they don’t usually get the opportunity to talk to as they run in different groups etc. The problem with ‘traditional Christmas menu’ is that it excludes those of us who don’t eat meat, I know there is always an ‘alternative’ but it feels like just that! I know that when I did eat meat, I used to get sick of it by the time Christmas came around and it was always good to get something non-turkey!

  4. Clearly, last night`s BvH Christmas Party was a success and enjoyed by those who attended. A big THANKYOU to Laura and Co for all their hard work in organizing the function.

I wonder if next year `we`can have a more traditional Christmas Menu.eg,turkey/chicken baps+stuffing/Christmas pudding. We can still have our jacket potatoes(and very good they were too) at another time of the year.

Also, the confined space available at the Pavilion lends itself to a Disco – Hopefully, not too loud ,but able to cater for a wide age range and the varying music tastes within the BvH Membership.
PS. It was great to see so many families present at the BvH Christmas Party.

  5. A great night, enjoyed the dancing! Thanks Laura and all for putting on a great Xmas do!
