Safety and Security

There have been two recent reports of incidents on the car park at Rowheath Pavilion involving club members, one of which involved the theft of a car by armed individuals and the other a suspected attempted vehicle break-in. Although nobody was physically hurt in these incidents, they are upsetting not only for those directly involved but for all of us within the club and we are taking these very seriously indeed.
I’d like to stress that these incidents are extremely rare, however, in light of similar reports in the wider local area Rowheath Pavilion are improving the CCTV signage and lighting around the car park. We are fortunate to have excellent facilities at Rowheath Pavilion including CCTV, and the management team are very responsive to any concerns we raise. Should you have any comments please raise these directly with a member of the BvH committee.
Please also report any suspicious activity around the building, keep any valuables in your car out of sight, consider walking back to the car park in small groups where possible and lock your vehicle doors as soon as you return to your car.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to remind all of our members of the Safer Running Guidelines on our website, particularly as we are now running in the dark. I would remind everyone to run together in groups and be alert to your surroundings.
