Owing to the latest guidance on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and today’s announcement that we should all avoid unnecessary social contact we will not be holding Thursday’s AGM in person. Instead we hope to be able to hold the meeting virtually, with options to dial in or access the meeting via laptops, smartphones or other devices. Having considered the length of time for which the social distancing measures are likely to be in place, we believe that this is the best option to give the most club members the opportunity to hear the updates and to elect the new committee representatives and we will do our best to ensure that we can make this facility available to as many club members as possible.
At this stage we are going to endeavour to send all club members an email to their registered address with a ‘Webex’ meeting link and telephone dial in details by Wednesday evening. The link will be available to be accessed from 8pm on Thursday evening to allow time for members to either: 1) connect to the meeting via an internet browser on a laptop or other device (an audio connection will also be needed either using the integrated microphone and speakers on your device or by dialling in separately); 2) downloading the Webex app on your smartphone or other device and connecting via the app; or 3) dialling in via ‘phone, using the telephone number and meeting code in the email. Each of these options will work, but ideally members will join using a browser or the app as this will enable the voting functions.
We recognise that not everyone will be familiar with the technology, but we ask that you give it a go if possible given the unprecedented circumstances and the potential for the new measures to be in place for some time. Should you have any questions prior to the meeting please direct these to info or contact Stacey Marston on Facebook messenger and we will do our best to answer any technical questions prior to the meeting if we can. If the logistics of this prove to be insurmountable and we need to postpone the meeting we will let you know as soon as possible.
Please note that the Track Session on Wednesday and Midlands Road Relays on 21st March are cancelled. Please keep a close eye on the club website and/or Facebook page for updates regarding club runs; the situation is changing rapidly and the club Committee will do everything possible to remain abreast of the latest advice from Government, England Athletics and our local community partners including Rowheath Pavilion and to communicate with you as decisions are made. It perhaps goes without saying that we will all continue to support each other through this difficult time and look for ways to connect virtually when meeting in person is not possible.
